Middle-Click Scrolling

Restoring Windows-Style Middle-Click Scrolling

On Windows, holding the middle mouse button and moving the mouse scrolls through pages — a habit many users rely on daily. On Linux, middle-click is mapped to paste from clipboard by default, which can be jarring (and messy) for new users.

How to fix it

The setting location depends on your desktop environment:

Nobara / KDE:

  1. Open Settings > Mouse
  2. Enable "Hold down middle mouse button and move mouse to scroll"

Other distros: The setting name and location varies, but look for middle-click or autoscroll options in your mouse/input settings. If your desktop environment doesn't offer it natively, tools like xdotool or libinput configuration can help achieve the same result.
